ELMER AVENUE PROJECT in NORTH HOLLYWOOD

:: Presenting Elmer Ave ::

This originally from the East Coast family of four asked 22 INTERIORS to help them brighten and make their recently purchased North Hollywood house "happier." We accomplished this with a fantastic mix of high / low furniture, family heirlooms, and practical built-ins. The result was a wonderful home that works perfectly for their lifestyle.

The main living room is anchored by the Pacifica Sofa by Environment Furniture. The painting over the sofa was done by the family's great grandmother.

The large ocean and grass photograph was what we used to define the entire living room's color scheme. Lots of turqouise, white, natural tones, and hints of green.

Silver frames line the heirloom piano, while photographs taken by a family member line the walls.

We built in a storage bench in their very informal dining room, which acts as space for the family not only to eat, but also to do homework, lots of art projects, and plenty of games. The Paper Chandelier by Moooi adds just the right amount of classical style without the formality.

The living room, dining area, and family room are all connected with a color scheme of blue and turquoise.

The family room was designed to be as comfortable as possible for this couple and their two young boys. A low sectional sofa combined with ottomans, floor pillows, velvet throw pillows, and a super soft Pottery Barn chunky wool and jute rug make it a soft space to hang out in.

Arranging bookshelves was a treat since this couple collects old film cameras and interesting Russian books.

Striped ceillings are a fun detail in the boys' room.

Non-standard shapes always work well in a kid's room. This dresser is more playful than a traditional dresser and still does a great job of storing.

The space under the stairs was used as a secret kids room hangout. The doors were painted in navy blue chalkboard paint, and the boys decorated the inside with glow in the dark stickers.

The master bedroom was done very simply, with a pop of color in their indigo quilt and pillow cases.

The stairwell gallery was a pleasure to design, combining family photos and random shots taken in Russia.

All of which are illuminated by a Moroccan chandelier that makes the stairwell look like a disco at night.

It's a party! in the stairwell!

Thank you for looking!
