Adding character and that WOW factor to a house

Our clients, a professional couple (doctor and lawyer) didn't get the house they REALLY wanted (they were outbid). So, when they purchased a recently remodeled home in Valley Village, they knew they wanted to make it feel extra special and give it the character they wanted in a home. We often hear clients who want their master suites want to feel like a hotel suite and this was certainly the case with our clients.

The master suite was a bit disjointed. There was no real walk in closet. There was a very impractical and large barn door going into the bathroom. And the master bathroom although new just wasn't so ...exciting. We were hired to add that WOW factor. We recreated the master layout altogether. Our clients were happy to eliminate a small bedroom and create a luxurious walk in closet. More on that later.

Here are the before pictures of the master bathroom -

And here are the after - we used tile that looks like wood and stone slabs behind the vanity for the luxurious mix of materials. The floating vanity is from Porcelanosa as are the tub and fixtures.

Love this Swiss sauna look...tile that looks like wood is genius.

And how fun are the line drawing Star Wars characters?!? Playful, whimsical, and beautifully done. Chosen by our clients.

Moving along to the master closet - custom cabinetry and Phillip Jeffries wool like wallpaper that feels so soft and luxurious.

Below - the dining area - we did our favorite Amelie dining chair and Moooi Spur Chandelier. Spot the Shana Frase original POP TARTS in the back?

SO SO GOOD!

Lastly, this wall next to the entry was not too exciting and there was no real purpose for it - just open space. We designed these custom bookshelves along with the rolling library ladder (always) to give it that oh-so-needed character and interest. Our clients have had great fun putting art and various memorabilia on the shelves, making it their own.

Thank you for looking and reading. Until next time!
