TWO years in the making : Palos Verdes Estates revealed
TWO years! The scope of work very quickly changed from a small renovation to a down-to-the-studs complete rebuild. This home is the house my client grew up in and he wanted it to feel new, which was definitely the motivation behind the massive renovation. He and his wife, a super talented hair stylist, are big fans of an edgy look, very little color, and lots of black accents. It feels so good to finally show off this house, having worked on every tiny detail from the style of the baseboards, to the design of the stair railing to the kitchen cabinets.
So - here we go - let's start with the entry. If you're buying a door, always go dutch. That's my rule.
We went with an unexpected chrome console table and a pair of faux shagreen grey lamps. The ottomans and art add just the right amount of interest.
Across from the entry we created a comfy sitting area as a way to formalize this space, but using swivel chairs that create a more relaxed lounge atmosphere.
This shot shows the layout of the first floor well. All open plan which allows for light to pour in.
Below my addition of a color in the navy velvet dining chairs and a brutalist style chandelier create a bit of drama in the dining area.
On to the kitchen! My clients love to cook so we have a double wall oven, warming tray, and stove top.
Note the extra large kitchen faucet. It's one the biggest splurges in the house!
Below we designed an EXTRA LARGE drawer under the stove top for pots and pans. There's a drawer within this EXTRA LARGE drawer for lids and cooking utensils. Stone is Panda White.
Into the family room where my clients LOVE to hang. This sectional by American Leather company is extra inviting. We added a custom ottoman to tuck under the coffee table for the option to throw your feet up on a soft surface when watching a film or the game.
Pillows are custom made. Drapery by Galaxy Draperies.
Below - the largest TELEVISION IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Kidding. Kind of. Our clients love their large television - and sound quality is SUPER important. Therefore we built a custom cabinet to surround the television and speakers. We styled it with pottery by Brad Chambers, friend of my clients. Needed to add that organic touch and pops of white.
Why is the powder room always a FAVORITE? We are obsessed with the Icelandic white marble stone - it's so alive and unexpected.
We created a salon space for our client with a crystal flushmount to add a touch of glam. The salon is connected to the powder room via a pocket door.
Heading upstairs we opted for a more tranquil vibe with a touch of edge. Moments of chrome keep the place rock n roll enough for our clients.
Custom designed master closet including a rolling bar height island with tons of storage.
The master bath has all the luxuries you want - double sink, a luxurious large steam shower, lots of light via sky lights and customized storage
I'm moving in (steam showers are the best thing ever). Slabs by Porcelanosa.
Our clients' beautiful baby girl's bedroom below.
Below is the gorgeous guest bath. Tile by Walker Zanger. Floor tile possibly one of my all time favs. We did each guest bath in these tiles with 2 different color schemes.
This is just a peak - more photos of this project can be found on our projects page.
Thank you for reading - see you next time!
