22 ID: MODERNIZING an ENGLISH TUDOR in Studio City and other news

We love a challenge just as much as we love a client who isn't afraid of bright colors. When we first saw this home, a classic English Tudor with dark wood beams everywhere, orange honey colored floors, and outdated window treatments, we knew we were in for a great before and after project. We made the phone calls and arrangements, and the team was assembled. Floors, paint, window treatments STAT. We started on design as the team got the palette ready.

Here are before real estate pics :

And here are the results :

Living room - we painted it all WHITE - including all the dark beams that were really making the space feel cramped and giving it too many visual distractions. We refinished the floors in an ebony matte stain to make it feel fresh and to make the spaces feel anchored.

ART selection was so much fun with this client. They love chartreuse and vibrant blues so we designed around some original pieces we sourced.

No regrets whatsoever about painting those beams white - the space now feels bright and open. Beautiful roman shades frame the windows beautifully.

We can never resist taking a few shots including adorable pets...these two are especially good posers.

Art below is by Italian artist Natalie Silva and is titled Spiele Mit Schiele. Sourced via Saatchi Art.

The piece below is Seas of the Day by Marcie Brennon, also sourced via Saatchi Art.

The den below with custom sofa, pillows, and one of our favorite lights of all time - the Mantis wall lamp.

For the dining room, we decided to go slightly more glam with a touch of cheekiness in the art by Paloma Rincon, Disco Melon and Pine Saver.

And lastly, in the bedroom we created a softer more retro vibe with softer colors and glam accents. We did a double set of drapes with a pale pink linen sheer and our heavier weight cotton linen.

Overall this was a super fun project to work on and we are so grateful to our clients for all the creative freedom and for the fabulous backdrop to Lucie's new bio pic!

In other 22 Interiors news, we hired our former intern Melissa Schwartz and we couldn't be more thrilled. Melissa graduated from Indiana University and has a degree in Interior Design and Graphic Design. She's incredibly motivated, smart, and laughs a ton - we can't wait for you all to meet her. Welcome Melissa!

More newsletters coming with the Ayres House Renovation and all the nitty gritty details - so many people are curious and asking - we promise it's coming - and no holding back on the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly. :)

Last but not least - HAPPIEST HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL and wishing you the very best for 2018!

Thank you for reading!

Warmest,

Lucie, Melissa, and the rest of the 22 Interiors team
