A Chic Palm Springs Pied-à-terre
:: Bringing Desert Getaway to Hip East LA ::
Given the desert's midcentury architecture and vibrant flare, it didn't take long for us to fall in love with this latest project. Our client wanted the design of their "apartment away from home" to exude the vibes of a true california vacation.
With chilly (oh c'mon, who are we kidding it's LA) winter weather and dreams of Coachella still months away, our inspiration relied on what Palms Springs does best: bright colors and retro furnishings.
This Stockhom Rand rug from IKEA is a fantastic reproduction. A Classic monochromatic pattern that really makes the living room walls, painted in Pavillion Blue by Farrow and Ball, pop.
With a view of the downtown LA skyline, this dining room melds past and future. The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel print by Slim Aarons is framed above a CB2 Aqua Virgo Dining Table. Our friends at Galaxy Draperies bring the shade with linen romans.
Floating above the table, flanked by emerald green Lydia Chairs, is a Capiz Orb Pendant from West Elm.
These Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs are everything. A touch of modern mixed with retro cool, these swivels serve double duty as living room seats and a look out perch to enjoy the Loz Feliz hillside.
Keeping things fresh with simple floral arrangements. Understated and often underutilzed.
The living room, achored by an oval shaped coffee table from Lexmod, is a bright and comforatble space, one easy to relax in for our clients arriving in LA from their various travels. The Overarching Floorlamp adds a playful element, lighting a series of SoCal themed prints.
Jonathan Adler to the rescue with a fun geometric accent pillow.
Letting the rooms accent pieces in the ombré of turquoise hues stand alone, this geometric acrylic tray is perfect for enjoying an afternoon refreshment.
The guest bedroom is both playful and soothing in this Ralph Lauren Bali Turquoise wall color. And if the paint isn't enough, our client's buddha sitting insdie this CB2 Harvey Chrome Nightstand will surely do the trick.
A GREAT find, these Hollywood Regency side tablse sit at the edge of a super yummy, super soft faux sheepskin rug. And nothing says "glam" like a brass pineaplle table lamp, right?
And there's nothing that more encapsulates the feeling of Hollywood style than a photo print of the opening night screening of the first color 3-D movie "Bwana Devel" at the Paramount Theater in 1952.
Thanks for looking.
