22 ID PRESENTS: THE GREAT HOUSE

Welcome to our beloved great house project. We were approached by a wonderful family (more than wonderful, probably THE NICEST family on the planet) who had bought their dream home and wanted to make it beautiful and comfortable with a very calming palette. We call it "The Great House" because it's grand without being pretentious, it’s elegant but still very comfortable, and it’s traditional but very comfortable (we’ll take some credit for the comfort part…)

Here we go - the entry. Console by Noir.

Opposite the the entry is the formal living room. Our client fell in love with this Old World Weavers Linley Blue velvet we found so we used it to custom make not one, but a pair of chesterfields. The gorgeous photograph is a limited edition piece by Lane Coder. Window treatments in 22's signature fabric by Galaxy.

The room felt like it needed a cozy bench by the fire both for additional seating and for added comfort. We custom designed this piece - doesn't it just want to make you lay on it and read by the fire with a pinot or an old fashioned?

Moving along to the center of the first floor. No double curved stairwells are the best. Of course The Great House has one flooded with light from skylights above.

Below - our favorite family room maybe ever? All custom made pieces- from the cozy leather sectional to the velvet tufted ottoman to the striped throw pillows, designed by 22 and fabricated by Foundation.

The family had a need to close off the opening to the office and we had a PLAN. Rodrigo from RBF Design executed our vision of the perfectly disguised library door. It took some time to get it just right but what you see below was entirely an open door way (only the door frame existed). Rodrigo matched the look and exact details of the built ins to execute this AMAZING SECRET DOOR (we're checking that off our design bucket list).

Could this pup be any cuter?!? (or match the space any better?) We clearly carefully arranged this shot, just as we carefully selected and arranged books and accessories for the bookshelves.

Maintaining the soothing palette our client wanted, we sourced these stunning hand made vases made by Bay Area ceramicist Sara Paloma. Less is more is so more with these. We can't stop staring....and exactly why we placed them over the TV.

Our clients wanted a really comfortable kitchen dining experience. The lush upholstered wing chairs and cerused oak table are also our custom designs. The stools are Serena & Lily.

Design tip - branches in a vase with some rocks - so simple and chic.

Hope you loved this as much as we loved working on this one (or as much as Lucie loves arranging branches and throws and pillows ....)

Thank you for looking!

Until next time -

The team @ 22 INTERIORS
