Hip, Happy, Wabi Sabi Mt Washington

This couple bought a fabulous property in Mt Washington. Sensational hills, a wonderful open plan, and a super charming backyard. They both love a clean palette and lots of light. We renovated their home (new flooring, kitchen, fireplace mantel) and created a super high curated home that exudes the beauty of simplicity. I kept in mind the Japanese method of decorating, Wabi-sabi, as a guiding principal for designing the space.

Here's the entry - I am now obsessed with the hanging coat rack on left. Such a playful way to add interest and movement to something as typically uninteresting as a coat rack.

This sectional is the Costura by DWR. I had the pleasure of meeting the designer, Jon Gasca at a DWR event. He explained to me the years of development and work it took to arrive at this piece. It has clean lines and feels thing, but is incredibly comfortable with it's generous seat depth and soft fabric.

It's my new favorite.

Below - We retiled the fireplace with a lovely Ann Sacks tile. Add a drop of interest with the pattern, but kept it muted with the white color.

The chair is quintessentially Danish but the pillow (custom made of the couple's dog) is oh-so-American.

The dining chair are vintage. We reupholstered them in an outdoor pale blue fabric.

A bar cabinet right by the doors to the garden so you naturally can grab your cocktail and go lounge on the hammock.

Simple white kitchen cabinets, with white quartz stone counter tops, waterfall on sides and a pop of matte black in the handles.

To me, the restraint is what makes this place so special. Everything we selected was meaningful and beautiful and it shows! Hip and happy.

Thank you for looking and reading!
