5 Shades of a Manhattan Beach Bachelor Pad (a killer before and after)
The story goes like this - a successful finance dude buys a ridiculously well located Manhattan Beach house after moving cross country from...Manhattan. He recognizes that the house needs a bit of design help - the espresso finish floors and overly embellished built in cabinetry make what should be an airy beachside house feel heavy and dark. In comes 22 Interiors. We refinished the floors, painted every surface, added window treatments, and created a clean but not too stark design. Our 5 shades are of mainly blues and grays which create a naturally bright but calming ambiance.
Here's the before slideshow of the living/ dining area, master, and guest bedroom:
And here are the after shots of the living / dining room - isn't paint just the BEST? Window treatments make a HUGE difference as well - these done in 22 Interiors' signature fabric. The built in's are gone and and custom bookshelf along with a cabinet door for the A/V equipment was installed.
Kitchen cabinets were painted because our client will be redoing the entire kitchen in the next few years. Refinishing cabinets is a 3-5 year solution only as the paint will chip with wear. However, a big difference it does make doing it in Farrow & Gray's Downpipe.
Below is the "shelfie" for a guy who doesn't have or doesn't want a lot of "stuff". Kept it natural and light, a little bit of everything - wood, plants, ceramics, and pictures.
The stairwell - we did art throughout the home, but it made a major impact in the flow of the staircase. The art opened up the somewhat narrow stairwell and made it feel larger.
The master bedroom below has the most indulgent bedding one could have. Our client travels often and stays in the finest of hotels, so his bed at home had to feel good. He said the bedding is the best he's ever slept in so SUCCESS.
Last but not least, below is the guest bedroom. It's located on the first floor of the three story home so it doesn't get a ton of natural light for most of the day. It has everything one needs in a guest : a great rug, luxe bedding, a happy painting, and some greenery to keep the air nice and fresh.
Thank you to my amazing team for helping make this home so darn gorgeous.
